ENGELSZELL
Engelszell is an Austrian Trappist beer that has been brewed since 2012 in the brewery of Stift Engelszell in Engelhartszell an der Donau, the only Trappist monastery in Austria.
Even though this Austrian Trappist beer is produced according to the Trappist tradition, the monks tried to create two entirely different recipes that reflect their history and personality.
Both beers are inspired by the unique landscape surrounding the abbey and are produced with local ingredients.
The beers were named Gregorius, Benno and Nivard in honour of the three monks that occupied the position of superior or abbot in the history of the Stift Engelszell community.
