WELCOME

Weynants NV is a wholesaler of monastic products that focuses on the distribution of Trappist beers in Belgium and on the export to several specific countries.

TRAPPIST BEERS

Every beer lover must have tasted an Orval or Westmalle Triple once in their life. But what is a Trappist beer exactly?

Of all the beers in the world, only about 10 are allowed to be a called an “Authentic Trappist Product”.

The name comes from the French abbey of “La Grande Trappe” where the religious Order of Trappists or Cistercians was founded.

Since the trademark is protected, a beer can only be associated with the International Trappist Association logo and therefore be labelled as “Trappist” if it meets these three criteria:

  • The beer must be brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey
  • The brewery is directly linked to the monastery and the beer is brewed by the monks or under their supervision
  • The brewery may not seek profits. All profits are intended for the needs of the monks, the maintenance of the abbey and its surroundings. The rest is donated to charitable works, social projects and people in need.

Ludo and Bram are the company owners. Just call them ambassadors! Indeed, they represent and run a company with great passion and are actual ambassadors of the best Trappist beers. They tell the story of the monks according to the values of a true Trappist: simple, but so tasteful!

Cheers!
